Who Are We
A friendly group of volunteers whose main aim is to make North Chingford a more attractive place to live, work and visit by maintaining and helping to maintain the flower beds and planters shown on the gardening group map.
Members of the group meet one evening a month, usually in a member’s garden in the summer months, to plan future activities and the activity sessions are mostly arranged via a WhatsApp Group.
Communications to keep the local community updated are also put on Facebook and Twitter.
If you would be interested in joining the group please email yvonne2441@hotmail.com or message via 07854 718190.
How It All Started
The LNC Gardening Group started in the autumn of 2018, when the volunteers received funding from our local councillors and replanted the planters along the parade with bulbs, olive trees, cyclamen and ivy. They were transformed from a weed infested scruffy mess into something beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
King’s Road Flower Beds
In spring of 2019 the council asked the volunteers to take on the top 3 beds in Kings Road – the middle bed contained weeds and a few dying roses!

Since then, the areas the volunteers tend have expanded considerably – see Map – and all the volunteers were delighted when in 2023 we won Gold for London Village in London in Bloom. We did not enter London in Bloom in 2024 due to a shortage of volunteers.
More volunteers would be welcome as many hands make light work
